MOVIE REVIEW :: Mehreen Jabbar Redefines Drama Genre, Thumbs up for Dobara Phir Se

Sometimes things inspire you quietly, without notifying you and you realize when it is gone. “Dobara Phir Se” is a similar kind of movie. At first you will not realize it but slowly and gradually it will totally consume you. If we state that “Dobara Phir Se” has set a benchmark for Pakistani drama genre movies it won’t be so wrong.
Sensibility, decency and a mature approach that is what “Dobara Phir Se” is all about. Mehreen Jabbar took a story which is not so unique apparently, it is simple and complex simultaneously, just the way life is used to be but there are diminutive moments to feel.

Adeel Hussain, Sanam Saeed, Hareem Farooq, Ali Kazmi, Tooba Siddiqui and Atiqa Odho starrer Dobara Phir Se is a drama genre movie. It is story of Hammad (Adeel Hussain) and Zainab (Hareem Farooq) and the people around them. Hammad (Adeel Hussain), Vaasay (Ali Kazmi) and Samar (Sanam Saeed) are friends. It is Samar who caused Hammad to meet Natasha (Tooba Siddiqui) in a party and an association is ripened between them. In the same party, Hammad meets Zainab and there is something which hooks both of them. Zainab is married and mother of one.  Her marital life is nothing but endless frustration and she is willing to end it thus files for divorce.

Dobara Phir Se (Trailer)
In this dark phase of life she meets her soul mate and the depression resolves in the air when they both are together. Life is not supposed to be as easy. Finding a soul mate is not enough, there are numerous unseen boundaries in life. Like parasites they persist with you and never allow you to breathe freely. Only lucky one can survive. So, when Hammad purposes Zainab, these unseen chains seize her gravely and she refuses. Dobara Phir Se is a story of confusion to take serious decisions to start a happy life again or waste your life just for few so called norms of society. You have to watch the movie to understand the decisions Zainab takes for changing her life.

Performance wise everyone was great. Each and every character is balanced and puts forward his best. Adeel is well-adjusted, natural and right fit for the role. Hareem is simple and graceful. Even though she is looking little chubby but it is considered another plus point. You don’t need to be extremely beautiful or skinny all the time. It is a story of two common people so appearance is not everything to deal with. Vaasay (Ali Kazmi) and Samar (Sanam Saeed) were spontaneous and well suited for their characters. Shaz Khan (Hareem’s Husband) surprised me with his performance. He perfectly portrays a mean and self-centered husband. Tooba was sizzling, just the way she should be “a modern age girl with all the tantrums”.

The kid made me smile many times. The little adorable creature with fine acting talent. Atiqa Odho looks perfect American mother in law with layers of makeup but a sensible approach. The best part is everyone is too natural and comfortable in character. Screen play is wisely written, no room for caked dialogues but relatable simple conversation we do in our usual life. Somewhere you will feel that you are watching a Hollywood movie in Urdu.

The cinematography of Dobara Phir Se is remarkable. From start to end story moves smoothly with a precise pace. Dobara Phir Se is equipped with some melodious songs. Lar Gaiyyaan, Kaisee Hai Ye, Baaghon Mein all songs are symphonic. Personally I loved “Lar Gaiyyaan” as it is pleasant-sounding with awesome choreography. Undoubtedly Sanam Saeed and Ali Kazmi possess impressive dancing skills. Lar Gaiyyaan is definitely going to be “Mehandi Song” of wedding season of this year.

Last but not least the society where dramas full of stupidity, immaturity and moaning are being appreciated, “Dobara Phir Se” is a pacemaker. This wisely directed movie beautifully highlights the huff of people to take righteous decisions for their life. The decisions which they should take happily without any hesitation but they can’t make them because of so called standards of society. All in all “Dobara Phir Se” is a must watch and if you have developed little understanding regarding life, Dobara Phir se is definitely going to impress you.
